I thought the conventional wisdom was to either find a trusted used transmission, or spend the $2k and order up one of the 97 spec models. I was under the impression that rebuilding these boxes had proven to be too expensive, and the finished assembly was often too unreliable. I'd like to find a good rebuilder. My box has less than 50K miles, but the synchros have been beaten on and worn down [by former owner]. Gordo
